Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position at a high-acuity, Level 3 Perinatal center with night shift requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work in a hospital Labor and Delivery unit at a teaching and Magnet-recognized facility
- Care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients, with 70% complex high-risk cases
- Typical patient ratio is 1:1
- Night shift schedule, either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
- Weekend shifts are required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating within the hospital is required, but not to sister hospitals
- Unit features 2 operating rooms for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs
- Approximately 150 births occur per month
- Unit supports outpatient services when the clinic is closed
- Uses EPIC charting system (experience preferred but not required)
- Scrub color is flexible; scrubs provided for OR personnel
- Responsibilities include care of high-acuity obstetric patients and collaboration during surgical procedures
- A second LD RN assists as 'baby catcher' for non-compromised newborns
- Facility includes a regional Level 4 NICU for critical newborns
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
- Return staff policy requires 18 months separation before reapplying as a traveler
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Restricted time off (RTO) is limited to 1 week and not permitted during orientation
- Holiday shifts may be required as per the hospital's needs
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license, or proof of pending license
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience (3 years preferred)
- At least 2 prior travel assignments beyond initial hospital
- COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
- Submission of application, skills checklist, and two references required
