Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience for a variable day-shift assignment in an acute inpatient hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in an acute inpatient hospital setting covering all medical floors, PACU, and ED, with infrequent floating to other nearby hospitals
  • Typical caseload is 8-10 patients per day, with a team of 8-12 therapists working daily
  • Common diagnoses include neurologic (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré), cranial and spinal surgeries, cardiac, orthopedic, general medical, and oncology patients
  • Does not treat transplant or traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients
  • Work schedule consists of 4 variable 10-hour day shifts per week from 7:30 to 18:00, with weekend requirements of every other full weekend or one weekend day per week
  • EPIC EMR system is used
  • Primary duties include evaluation and treatment of acute care patients on medical floors and occasional coverage in PACU and ED
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Orientation includes 24 hours covering hospital, department, and documentation systems in the first 3-5 days
  • No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted
  • Perm employees must be away for one year before being eligible for travel assignment
  • Rehab aides are on staff; team consists of therapists and occasional on-call weekend supervisor
  • Any color scrubs or business casual attire is acceptable

Requirements

  • Active Occupational Therapist state license required if applicable
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience as a licensed therapist is required
  • Experience with EPIC EMR is required
  • Driver’s license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including employment dates and eligibility for rehire
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
