Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift role in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and strong neuro assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 18-bed ICU with a mix of ICU and step-down level patients
• Patient ratios are 2:1 for ICU and 3:1 for step-down
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Float to step-down level care may be required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Charge nurse may take patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Skills in tPa administration and massive transfusion protocols are preferred
• Successful candidates demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and strong social skills
• Unit has a strong core staff and seeks traveler support due to increased patient volume
• COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position but may be subject to change
• GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation week
• Candidates must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; 3 years preferred
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
• Proficient in NIHSS, dysphagia screening, and strong neuro assessment
• Experience with telemetry/EKG interpretation, ventilator management, and titration of sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive agents, and insulin
• Must pass an EKG exam on the first day
• Familiarity with sepsis protocols and post-ROSC therapeutic hypothermia
