Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring an active IL RN license and mandatory floating across multiple critical care units.

Responsibilities

  • Work in multiple ICU settings, including Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, and Neuro ICU within a hospital environment
  • Must float to different ICU units and may occasionally float to MS units as needed
  • Level 1 Trauma Center care environment
  • Patient charting is done using Cerner EMR; experience preferred
  • Schedule consists of 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00pm-7:30am) with every other weekend required
  • No block scheduling requests will be considered
  • First week consists of day shift orientation and precepting
  • ICU RN responsibilities may include providing care to critical patients across a range of ICU specialties and supporting other units as needed
  • Team-based care is utilized when floated outside primary competency area
  • Strict compliance with lab work required within 72 hours of offer acceptance
  • Scrub color is navy blue and must be provided by the RN
  • Maximum of 5 days RTO permitted, with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO allowed on weekends or adjacent to holidays
  • No holiday RTO allowed; contract is subject to cancellation for call-outs on holidays
  • Locals within a 75-mile radius are accepted and preferred

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license is required; pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years recent ICU acute care experience is required
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required
  • Must be willing and able to float to any designated critical care or MS unit within scope
  • Must live within a 75-mile radius of the facility
  • COVID vaccination is required for employment; booster is not required

Unit is traveler friendly. Rad onc unit is in the basement of course so no interaction with other departments.

Cons

Cost of living. Parking is wild. Just rent close and walk/bus to work.
