Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring scrub and circulate abilities and a valid SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Operating Room unit within a hospital setting
• Responsibilities include both scrub and circulate roles
• Patient population consists of surgical patients across specialties
• Uses Cerner EMR for documentation
• 8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, five days per week
• Call required: 3 weekday and 2 weekend (24-hour) shifts per 6-week period
• Floating may be required to a nearby sister hospital
• Provide perioperative nursing care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and staff
• Must demonstrate sound critical thinking and emergency response skills
• Responsibilities include advocating for patients, addressing ethical issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and other typical hospital conditions is expected
• Must comply with mandatory background checks and drug screening within strict timelines
• Maximum assignment duration is one calendar year, after which a 30-60 day break is required before returning

Requirements

• Active RN license in South Carolina or a compact state, not as a SC permanent resident
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required
• Ability to both scrub and circulate in the OR
• BSN preferred or required within five years of hire for direct patient care positions
• Experience with Cerner EMR is required
• Physical ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, lift/move patients, and carry up to 50 lbs
• No candidates within a 50-mile radius (no locals considered)
