Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a critical care ICU night shift position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIH certification, and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the ICU at a short term acute care, Magnet and teaching Level I Trauma Center
• Night shifts are 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Patient ratio is 1:2
• Cares for patients with respiratory failure, ARDS, cardiac issues, stroke, sepsis, DKA, multi-organ failure, and pre/post surgical, transplant, and neuro patients
• Unit utilizes Epic EMR and experience is required
• Specialized equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilators, BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillators
• Must work every other weekend
• No call requirements
• Float required within service line to ICU units
• Responsibilities include managing critically ill patients, interpreting 12 lead EKG/ECG, caring for patients with central lines/PICCs, and managing blood products and wound vacs
• Must follow infection prevention and isolation protocols, including use of PPE
• Navy scrubs are required
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments are assigned as needed
• No more than 7 days of RTO allowed per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during first week of orientation
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers can remain for up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break after

Requirements

• Active MO or compact state RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Proficiency in management of dysrhythmias, ventilator care, invasive monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and care for multi-organ dysfunction
• Ability to use Epic EMR system
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Must live at least 75 miles from the facility
• Pending license accepted with proof at submission
