Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring BLS and NIHSS certifications with potential charge nurse responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
- 2E overflow assignment
- Day shift with options for 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, typically 7:00–19:30
- Patient care involves medical-surgical and telemetry populations
- Use of Cerner EMR system is required
- Floating required within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals
- Assignment length is 13 weeks
- Charge nurse duties may be assigned based on operational needs with provided training
- May be required to provide charge nurse coverage as needed, with additional support and training provided
- Must be willing to float to similar units or affiliate facilities as operationally necessary
- Holiday coverage required for at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Up to 5 days of requested time off may be auto-approved
- Travelers from in-state (IN) may face restrictions per facility policy after 11/30/24, with exceptions for perioperative and certain allied roles
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license (standard, temporary, or approved pending accepted if in hand at start)
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications accepted from AHA or RQI; must be current at time of consideration
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Not accepting local candidates for this unit
- Perm or PRN former employees must wait 12 months before reapplying as a traveler
