Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a stepdown RN with telemetry, cardiac, and stroke experience for a night shift role with weekend and float requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work on the stepdown unit in a short-term acute care hospital
- Patient population includes cardiac, stroke, and renal patients
- Telemetry and intermediate care setting with 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30), with every other weekend required
- Floating to similar or lower-acuity units is required
- Handles a variety of cardiac drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Lasix
- Beds are equipped for hemodialysis with HD performed by an outside company
- Provides all modes of oxygenation except ventilators
- Uses Cerner for charting
- Care includes monitoring and responding to complex telemetry and cardiac rhythms
- Renal patient care may involve collaboration with external hemodialysis providers
- Royal blue or white scrubs required
- No call requirements
- Team prioritizes safe patient ratios and clinical support
- Holiday coverage may be required based on rotation
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required; pending license accepted if active before start
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry and cardiac/stroke nursing experience; 2 years preferred
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must be proficient in reading, identifying, and responding to cardiac rhythms
- Must pass telemetry rhythm identification quiz
- Cardiac drip experience required
- Travelers must live at least 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers accepted
