Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for a full-time M-F assignment in Alaska with 3+ years experience and current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Work in both inpatient and outpatient settings within a hospital-based physical therapy department
• Equipment includes hi-lo tables, whirlpool, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electric stimulation modalities
• Village-based care may require therapists to bring treatment materials such as therabands and exercise programs
• Covers all patient age ranges and diagnoses within the state's PT scope of practice
• Monday through Friday, day shift schedule
• Responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of patients using evidence-based medicine and age-specific modifications
• Orientation takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the start of the assignment
• Hospital housing is provided in shared units with private bedrooms; no dogs allowed
• The facility reimburses economy-level flights to and from the assignment, with advance receipt submission required
• Flight itinerary must be provided one week before the start date; airport pickup is available upon arrival
• Candidates will be required to take a math test on medication calculations for adults and pediatrics upon arrival
• Work in a culturally diverse remote area, requiring adaptability and respect for cultural differences

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Physical Therapist
• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program required
• Current BLS required for duration of assignment
• Must be licensed in good standing in Alaska or have completed all appropriate FSBPT paperwork if applicable
• Competency in IV/central line care, fall precautions, age-specific care, abuse/neglect recognition, pain management, and blood transfusion procedures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and correspondence
• Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize MS Office programs and the internet for accessing medical literature
