Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent Med/Tele experience and a valid NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Position located in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 14 private rooms
Patient population includes ESRD, AKI, fluid resuscitation, blood products, and medical overflow patients
Handles both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients
RN patient ratios are 1:4-5
Shift start at 6:45am with 36-hour shift options available
Requires working every other weekend
Travelers will work 75% of observed holidays
No on-call or call back requirements
Floating may be required to any facility within Region 1 if needed
Epic EMR is used on the unit
Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors are used
Nursing team is supported by CNAs, charge nurse, and IV/VAT team
CNA staff assist with ADLs, turning, foley care, phlebotomy, 12-lead EKGs, and glucometer
Unit is professional and team-oriented
Orientation includes facility NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
Scrub color is navy
Free parking is available

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required
Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Tele nursing experience required
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required
Experience with PIV starts, dialysis catheter management, NG tube placement/management, surgical and pleural drain management, and chest tube management is required
Peritoneal dialysis experience is preferred
Epic EMR experience preferred
Must not be a first-time traveler
Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from home unit
