Description

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position, requiring a NC or compact RN license and advanced cardiac care skills.

Responsibilities

Work in the Cardiovascular ICU of a Level III trauma and teaching hospital
Unit has 14 private rooms, including two negative pressure rooms
Patient population includes STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and post-cardiac/thoracic surgery
RN to patient ratio is 1:2
Specialized procedures include management of vasoactive medications, surgical drains, chest tubes, ventilators, CRRT, and invasive devices such as IABP and Impella
Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell for medication dispensing, and Phillips patient monitors
12-hour night shifts (1845-0715) with every other weekend required
Floating may occur within the regional facilities and within scope of practice
No call or on-call requirements
Supported by a charge nurse, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapists, and 24/7 unit-based intensivist
Departmental training includes NEO and 2 days of unit orientation
Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and can have up to 6 days of requested time off (excluding holidays), with any additional days added to the end of the contract
Scrub color is navy
Free parking is provided
First time travelers may be considered, but experience is preferred

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required
Minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Experience with management of vasoactive medications, invasive lines and devices, and advanced cardiac care equipment strongly preferred
Experience with Epic EMR required or strongly preferred
