Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with ortho and Med/Tele skills, holding a TX or compact RN license and at least two years of recent experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:00
• Unit has 36 beds and typical patient ratio is 1:6
• Float required to units of equal or lower acuity
• Assigned to weekends for half of scheduled shifts
• Patient population includes ortho trauma, total joint replacements, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and renal failure
• Uses Epic EMR with previous experience preferred
• Responsibilities include managing surgical and orthopedic patient care, wound care, administering blood products, and managing a variety of medical equipment
• Team environment with no travel pairs or groups accepted
• No more than 3 days of requested time off will be approved; no time off allowed during the first week of orientation

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Must have experience with MS/Tele, colostomy care, feeding tube and tracheostomy management, hemodialysis management, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Applicants residing within 50 miles of the facility or in specified local counties are not eligible
• First time travelers are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must have at least 1 year separation before applying
