Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring a TX or compact RN license and strong med/surg and ortho skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with orthopedic and general med/surg patient population
• Typical patient ratio is 1:6
• Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Must work half of scheduled shifts on weekends
• Epic EMR experience preferred and Prev EPIC required
• Expected to perform clinical duties such as colostomy care, feeding tube management, hemodialysis care, blood product administration, and wound care
• Not accepting first-time travelers for this assignment
• No travel pairs or groups will be considered
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff must be gone for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Residents of specified counties within a 50-mile radius are not eligible
• No more than 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved; no RTO granted during the first week of orientation

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent med/surg nursing experience required
• BLS required; ACLS and NIH preferred
• Med/surg and MS/Tele skills required including colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care
• Must be experienced in accessing ports, administering blood products, central and peripheral line management, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Experience with ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and wound care required
• Experience with respiratory equipment and tracheostomy management required
• Previous Epic charting experience preferred
