Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for night shifts at a busy teaching hospital, requiring an NM or compact RN license and telemetry skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit at a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital
- Mixed adult patient population with med/surg and telemetry needs
- Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1:5, with possible 1:6 during high census
- Travelers are required to float to MS/Tele, PCU, lower acuity settings, and ED within their skillset
- Night shift position (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Cerner is used for charting
- Contracts are available for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Weekend work is required at least 2 weekends per 4-week schedule, subject to unit needs
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- No local candidates within 75 miles considered
- Scrub color is black and must be provided by the clinician
- RTO requests for more than 10 days require approval
- Free parking is available on site
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license (pending accepted)
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry
- Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Ability to perform IV starts and proficient in telemetry monitoring
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
