Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a Level I Trauma teaching hospital requiring NM or compact RN licensure, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with possible 1:6 when hospital operates at capacity
- Floating is required to MS/Tele, PCU, lower acuity areas within skillset, and to ED with 1:5 ratios
- Shifts are night (3x12 hours, 19:00 to 7:30), with weekend requirement of 2 per 4-week schedule
- Charting is done in Cerner and Cerner experience is preferred
- Responsibilities include monitoring telemetry patients, IV starts, and providing care within Med/Surg, Tele, or PCU settings
- Facility is a large, acute care environment with over 550 staffed beds and operates at high census
- Scrub color is black and scrubs are not provided
- No on-call requirements for this position
- First time travelers are accepted
- Requests for time off greater than 10 days require approval
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license required (pending license accepted at time of consideration)
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required
- Minimum of 1 year Med/Surg Tele nursing experience
- Must have experience with IV starts and telemetry
- COVID vaccination required, with religious and medical exemptions accepted upon provider-signed exemption form
- Not open to local candidates within a 75 mile radius
