Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in a high-volume, Level I trauma and teaching hospital, requiring an NM or compact RN license and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a hospital with Level I Trauma and teaching status
• Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with possible 1:6, due to high patient volume
• Float required to MS/Tele, PCU, lower acuity settings, and Emergency Department within skillset
• Night shift, four 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 pm – 7:30 am)
• Contracts available for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Cerner charting system is used
• Must work at least two weekends in a four-week schedule; may vary based on unit needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility
• RTO requests greater than 10 days require approval
• Scrub color is black and must be provided by the RN
• No on-call requirements
• Parking is provided at no cost
• Work in a collaborative, high-acuity environment with team support

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required (license may be pending at time of consideration)
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Ability to start IVs and provide telemetry care
• COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form
