Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele contract with floating expectations, working night shifts and requiring a NM or compact license.
Responsibilities
- Position is within the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5, with occasional 1:6 when the facility is at capacity
- Travelers are expected to float to other MS/Tele, PCU, and lower acuity units, and may float to the ED
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Contracts available for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Uses Cerner EMR system
- IV starts and telemetry monitoring are required skills
- Scrub color is black
- Responsibilities include care of patients requiring telemetry and IV starts, with frequent floating based on facility needs
- The hospital operates at over 100% capacity and is a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Must work at least 2 weekends per 4-week schedule; unit needs may alter this requirement
- On-call is not required for this role
- No local candidates within a 75-mile radius will be considered
- Black scrubs are required, but not provided
- Time off (RTO) requests over 10 days require approval; no RTO allowed during the first or last 7 days of contract
- Pre-employment drug screening and completion of onboarding modules (up to 4 hours) are required
- Rehire as a traveler is allowed if applicant has not been a permanent employee within the last 12 months
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license (pending license accepted at time of consideration)
- Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS are required
- COVID-19 vaccination is required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with completed exemption form
- Must live more than 75 miles from the facility
- RQI certifications are not accepted
