Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with night shifts and required floating in a Level I Trauma, teaching hospital.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a large, acute care teaching hospital
- Patient ratios typically 1:5, with the possibility of 1:6 during high census periods
- Level I Trauma and children’s hospital environment
- Floating required to PCU, other Med/Surg Tele, lower acuity units, and the ED within skillset
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
- Weekend requirement is two weekends per four-week schedule, may vary by unit needs
- Uses Cerner EMR system
- Black scrubs required; not provided
- First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
- RTO requests exceeding 10 days require approval
- No call responsibilities
- Parking at the facility is free
- High acuity and high census environment with over 100% capacity frequently
- Holiday scheduling may be required depending on unit needs
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license (license may be pending at time of consideration)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant Med/Surg Tele experience
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- COVID vaccination required unless approved exemption is documented
- Ability to perform IV starts and telemetry monitoring
- Locals not accepted if residing within 75 miles of the facility
