Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position, requiring a WV or compact RN license and strong experience with trauma and high-acuity cases.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department with 24 beds
• Patient population includes infants through geriatrics with a high volume of psychiatric, neurological, orthopedic, renal, and trauma cases
• Patient ratios are 4:1
• Night shifts, 3x12 hours (7 pm - 7 am), with every other weekend required
• Floating may be required within scope based on facility needs
• No call requirements
• Potential for blocked scheduling, subject to discussion during interview
• Daily responsibilities include managing varying acuities, including psychiatric emergencies, without a separate psych wing
• High-acuity patient boarding may occur due to volume and complexity
• Former perm employees may not return as travelers until after 2 years from last worked date
• Orientation starts every other week on Thursday
• Holiday coverage may be required according to unit needs
• Standard hospital dress code applies

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required; pending license may be considered with active license in hand before start
• Minimum 2 years RN experience, with at least 1 year in the specialty required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI certifications required (CPI may be obtained prior to start)
• IV start and telemetry skills required
• Flu shot required during flu season unless medically exempt with documentation
• COVID vaccination required unless approved exempt by facility leadership
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles reviewed individually
• First-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience
