Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN with at least 2 years of experience and a current CA RN license for a night shift position.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 31-bed Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
• Night shifts of 12 hours with a typical schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to work at least 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week period
• Staffing ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Care for patients with cardiac monitoring needs, post pacer, new onset afib, TBI, strokes, stepdown from ICU, and various high acuity cases
• Uses Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment
• Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
• Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to various units including MedSurg and stepdown as needed
• On-call/standby requires reporting within 30 minutes
• Charge Nurse and Resource Nurse support available on each shift
• Required to participate in the perm staff holiday rotation, working one major and one minor holiday
• Navy blue scrubs required, including jackets and undershirts, which may be navy, white, or black
• Primary responsibilities include cardiac monitoring and management of a diverse patient population requiring telemetry services
• Initial orientation on the unit includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
• The unit receives support from nurse aides and has 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services available
• Block scheduling may be allowed if unit needs allow, but is not guaranteed
• Travelers are prioritized for floating between related hospital units as required
• First time travelers will be considered for this role

Requirements

• Active, in-hand CA RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years recent telemetry experience
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Must possess experience with Cerner EMR
• Must be able to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms
• Must provide two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the past 3 years
• Copy of valid driver's license required for consideration
• Not eligible if employed at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year
