Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position focused on oncology care, requiring an OH or compact RN license and proficiency in chemotherapy administration.

Responsibilities

Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit specializing in adult and geriatric oncology patients
Patients include those diagnosed with endometrial, bladder, renal, ovarian, and cervical cancers
Provides treatments such as chemotherapy, clinical trials, brachytherapy, and continuous bladder irrigation
Staffing ratios target 1:4, potentially adjusted to 1:5 based on unit needs
Shifts are 12 hours, with day, night, or rotating schedules as determined by department needs
Self-scheduling is allowed but subject to unit requirements, with variable weekend assignments
Uses EPIC for electronic documentation, experience required
Orientation includes a week of Monday–Friday days followed by 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor
Responsibilities include direct care for oncology patients, chemotherapy administration, and assisting in clinical trial protocols
Implementation of infection prevention and patient falls management is expected
Collaboration with interdisciplinary and rapid response teams is essential
Expected to accurately document all care and interventions in EPIC
First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

Active OH or compact RN license
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Proficiency in interpreting dysrhythmias and providing telemetry care
Experience with chemotherapy administration and brachytherapy required
Preferred Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification
Strong skills in IV therapy, central line maintenance, blood product administration, and feeding tube care
