Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position in a Level II trauma acute care setting, requiring at least one year of OR experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 16-suite Operating Room within an acute care hospital
• Patient population includes general, GYN, urology, peripheral vascular, bariatrics, ortho (including trauma and total joints), neuro, ENT, oral, plastics, and more
• Average of 28 cases per day across a variety of surgical specialties
• No scrubbing required; circulating role only
• Cerner EMR is used, with transition to Epic planned
• Primarily 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730), with 8-hour PM shifts (1500-2330) approximately one week every five weeks
• Weeknight call 1–2 nights per week; one weekend call approximately every 5–6 weekends
• At least one holiday call per year required
• Call response time is 30–45 minutes depending on the call team
• Floating may be required to the Outpatient Surgery Center across campus
• Orientation includes 2–3 days with an educator and 1–2 weeks of unit-specific training
• At least one RN and one surgical tech staffed 24/7/365; always a charge RN present in the OR
• Navy blue scrubs provided free via Cintas vending
• Holiday coverage is required for at least one holiday per year
• All clinicians must clock in and out as required
• Former permanent staff must have a termination date at least 6 months prior to consideration and require department approval
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and subject to local rate adjustments

Requirements

• Active WI or compact state RN license required by start date
• Minimum of 1 year recent Operating Room RN experience required
• BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• Experience circulating a variety of surgical specialties including ortho, neuro, general, GYN, urology, and peripheral vascular cases
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor
