Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a stepdown unit assignment requiring travel experience, Level I trauma background, and a TN or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large hospital stepdown unit, which also serves as Med Surg overflow
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6-7
• Care provided to adult acute patients in a Level I Trauma Center
• Day shifts are available (3x12 hours, 7:00–19:00), with schedules potentially varying
• Weekend and on-call coverage required as needed
• Floating may occur between similar units and campuses within 20 miles, though inter-campus floating is rare
• Cerner EMR is used; prior experience with Cerner is preferred
• Provide care for high-acuity stepdown and med surg overflow patients in a fast-paced setting
• May be required to work major holidays; if two holidays fall during assignment, must work at least one, or two out of three if applicable
• Returning employees must have a one year gap from prior employment before eligible to return as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted up front; changes not accepted post-offer
• No block scheduling, though weekend block scheduling may be considered
• No first-time travelers accepted for this assignment

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required with no pending status
• Minimum of 2 years of recent stepdown or relevant experience; 3 years preferred
• Prior travel nursing assignment completion required; first-time travelers are not accepted
• Previous Level I trauma and large hospital experience required
• Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) required
• Current BLS certification required
• 100 mile radius rule applies; no local candidates
