Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position in an acute care setting, requiring a TX or compact RN license and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital on a 24-bed Med/Tele unit utilizing a virtual integrated care nursing model
• Patient population includes CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and med/surg telemetry cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 with PCT support at a 1:12 ratio
• RNs are required to read telemetry strips, with monitor tech support available
• Care of patients on Cpap, Bipap, and high flow oxygen equipment is expected
• Uses computerized charting system (system name not specified)
• Schedule is for 12-hour day shifts, 6:30am–7:00pm, every other weekend required
• Holiday shifts are required
• Must be able to float to all med/surg units
• No on-call requirements
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Provide comprehensive nursing care for a variety of cardiac and medical-surgical patients
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including charge nurses, house supervisors, nurse educators, and PCTs
• Department-specific orientation provided within the med/surg tele tower
• Must adhere to the given work schedule as assigned by management
• Returning candidates may not have been employed in any capacity by the health system within the past year
• Department expects flexibility to float and cover other med/surg units as needed

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of 3 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Strong communication and time management skills required
• Ability to read telemetry strips is required
