Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a hospital acute care assignment requiring a SC or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med/Surg Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
• Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts (7:00 am – 7:30 pm)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-7
• Requires working every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating to like units or within scope as needed
• Community hospital setting with Level III trauma designation
• Uses Epic for documentation
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• All required online modules must be completed prior to start
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Parking provided at no cost
• RTO must be declared at time of application; approval subject to facility needs
• Must live at least 60 miles from facility for travel pay eligibility; locals considered case-by-case at a local rate
• Previous perm staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Current AHA certifications in BLS and ACLS required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Telemetry competency required
• Previous charge nurse or community hospital experience preferred
• Must provide social security number and driver’s license for consideration
