Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a SC or compact RN license, two years of experience, and competency in telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within an acute care hospital
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6-7
• Day shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts per week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating may be required to similar units based on facility needs
• Epic EMR is used; prior experience preferred
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Responsible for providing direct patient care in a Level III trauma setting
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• All time-off requests must be submitted with application and approval is based on facility needs
• Local candidates living within a 60-mile radius may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the health system for at least one year to be eligible
• Completion of pre-start modules is required
• Employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June to November)
• Free onsite parking is available

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license must be in hand prior to start
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA required; NIH Stroke Scale preferred
• Demonstrated telemetry competency required
• Experience in a community hospital setting is preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
• Must provide SSN and driver’s license for consideration
