Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a NM or compact RN license and TNCC at time of consideration.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Level I Trauma Emergency Department in a major teaching hospital
- Patient ratios are typically 1:5
- High volume of admit holds, with many ED rooms designated as ED Holding
- Weekend shifts required as needed, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
- Shifts available in 36 or 48 hour workweeks, mainly evening (4x12 hour) shifts
- Expected to float to Adult Progressive Care Units and ED Holding as needed; floating to Pediatric ED is optional
- Uses Cerner for electronic charting
- No on-call required
- Provide emergency care including medication administration via IV and documentation of clinical findings
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity setting
- Children’s hospital environment with both adult and pediatric populations
- First-time travelers will be considered
- More than 7 days of requested time off requires prior approval
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license (may be pending at consideration)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience required; 1.5 years may be considered
- Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred
- Travel experience preferred but not required if candidate has 2+ years Level I experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and PALS certifications required; TNCC must be current at consideration
- NIHSS certification may be pending until compliance documents are due
- No local candidates living within 75 miles
- COVID-19 vaccination required unless an approved medical or religious exemption is submitted
- Black scrubs required; scrubs not provided
