Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring MI licensure and current ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center, Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Required to work 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4 week schedule, which may include working 1, 2, or all 3 weekend days
  • Floating to pediatric emergency care may be required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • High patient ratios commonly 1:5-6, but may be up to 8 depending on unit needs and holidays
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Responsibilities include care for adult and pediatric emergency patients in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Returning travel or permanent staff must wait 12 months before being eligible for reemployment
  • All requested time off must be submitted up front and is limited to a maximum of 5 days per assignment; no additional RTO will be approved later
  • Requested time off is not permitted between March 27 and April 12
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • Epic training is provided in orientation
  • Department has high-acuity patient care standards and supports a collaborative team environment

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required by start date
  • Minimum 2 years of recent emergency department nursing experience required
  • Level I trauma experience required
  • Certifications required at time of consideration: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • ENPC certification preferred
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and triage experience preferred
  • Proof of high school education required
