Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for a Home Health position in Alaska requiring at least one year of recent home health or outpatient experience and an active Alaska PT license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a home health setting with a community-based patient population
- Typical patient census averages 26 per day
- Monday to Friday, day shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (start time can flex)
- No weekend or on-call requirements
- Care provided in patient homes with an office base on campus
- May float to hospice cases as needed within home health scope
- Top diagnoses include COPD, CHF, orthopedic procedures (including joint replacements), and neurologic diseases
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Primary responsibilities include patient evaluation, plan of care, treatment, and documentation
- Collaborate with patient care teams and provide oversight of PT assistants or students as needed
- Supervision of therapy aides and possible mentorship of new caregivers
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential
- Flexible work environment with a variety of diagnoses and team support
- No local candidates accepted for this assignment
- Ketchikan, Alaska offers a mild maritime climate and scenic setting
- Work attire typically includes professional clothing appropriate for community visits
Requirements
- Active Alaska Physical Therapist license required (Compact PT licenses accepted); license required if applicable
- Minimum of 1 year of recent home health or outpatient PT experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
- Reliable vehicle required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- First-time travelers accepted with OASIS experience
