Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment specializing in cardiopulmonary care with Cerner EMR experience and current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed-model, 32-bed PCU/MedSurg unit with a cardiopulmonary emphasis
• Primary patient population includes cardiac, pulmonary, trach-to-vent, neurodegenerative diseases, trauma, post-transplant, and infectious conditions such as flu, TB, and COVID-19
• Staffing ratios are 1:4 for PCU assignments and 1:5-6 for MedSurg assignments, with some mixed acuity caseloads
• Cerner EMR system is used and experience is required
• Night shifts with 3x12 hour schedule (19:00-07:30)
• Travelers may be required to float to MedSurg, PCU, and ICU units at both University and Methodist Hospitals
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned with training as needed
• May be required to precept or have students shadow during the assignment
• All travelers will float within hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• RTO policy allows auto-approval of up to 5 days of requested time off
• Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required and must be in hand for consideration
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA or RQI) required
• Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
• Minimum of 18 months to 2 years RN experience required, with MedSurg RN accepted if ICU and PCU experience is also present
• Experience with Cerner EMR required
• COVID-19 vaccine required unless a medical or religious exemption is provided
• Local candidates are not accepted for PCU positions
• Returning perm or PRN employees must have at least a 12 month break before applying for a traveler role
