Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 4 years of L&D and C-section experience with night shift and Cerner EMR skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute hospital Labor & Delivery unit with Level II EQ and Level 1 Trauma Center designation
• Unit includes 18 LDRP beds, 14 OB triage beds, and 8 antepartum beds
• Average deliveries are 8-10 per day with 2 fully equipped OR suites on the unit for C-sections
• Patient population consists of laboring and preterm patients, minimum gestation 28 weeks
• Nurse to patient ratios typically 2:1 depending on acuity, antepartum 4:1, C-sections 1:1
• Uses Cerner EMR and Fetal Link EFM system, with computer charting experience required
• Night shift schedule from 19:00-07:00, 12-hour shifts
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts per schedule
• Floating may occur to Mother-Baby/Postpartum or to sister facility in Mercy Gilbert if needed
• No required call or standby, but voluntary options available
• Responsibilities include care of laboring and preterm patients, circulating and recovering C-sections, and titrating Pitocin and Magnesium Sulfate per protocol
• All travelers take a pass/fail Sim lab on day 1 orientation, with study guides provided
• No nurse aides on the unit; OB hospitalist, anesthesia, RT, and pharmacy services available 24/7
• Team includes 13 charge nurses; IV team available if needed
• Blue scrub color required for this unit
• Holiday coverage is preferred if required
• A radius rule may apply for out-of-state candidates based on permanent address
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by specified health systems within the past year

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
• Minimum 4 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Experience circulating and recovering C-section patients required
• Experience with computer charting, Cerner experience preferred
• Must pass a pre-offer dysrhythmia (Relias) exam with 80% or better, max 2 attempts
• Must provide a copy of driver’s license for consideration
• Two professional references required, including one supervisor reference from the past 12 months
