Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring an active IL license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and EKG rhythm strip interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1:6
• Care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring, including those with chronic vents
• Day shifts, three 12-hour shifts per week from 6:45 to 19:15
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating to other units is required
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Competence with EKG monitoring and telemetry equipment required
• Provide acute care and monitor for cardiac changes in a fast-paced environment
• Expected to initiate and maintain cardiac drips as needed
• Up to 7 days of RTO (requested time off) allowed
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Two references required, one from a direct supervisor or manager
• Vaccination exemptions must be submitted within 48 hours of acceptance

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at the time of consideration
• Minimum of 1 year of recent telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Competency in rhythm strip interpretation and must pass an EKG strip test at orientation
• Preferred experience with chronic vent patients and cardiac drips such as dobutamine, amiodarone, and cardizem
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• No pending licenses accepted
