Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Medical Stroke unit night shift position requiring a WV or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med/Surg Medical Stroke unit within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes stroke, COPD, pneumonia, abdominal pain, post-thyroidectomy, and surgical overflow
• Average daily census is 26-28 patients with a maximum bed capacity of 35
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5-6 with support from 3 patient care techs (PCTs)
• Utilizes the Epic EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts with weekend shifts as scheduled
• Candidates who have worked at any WVU Medicine location must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Cumulative traveler assignments at any WVU facility cannot exceed one year without a 2-year break
• No local travelers permitted; must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Typical team includes RNs and 3 PCTs for patient care support
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrub color is not specified; check assignment details for dress code

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• At least 2 years of relevant RN experience in a Med/Surg setting
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or stroke experience preferred
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Travel experience preferred
• Must provide an unexpired copy of driver's license for consideration
