Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring NM or compact RN license and TNCC certification.
Responsibilities
- Work in a busy Emergency Department within a Level I Trauma, Children's, and Teaching Hospital setting
- Patient ratios typically 1:5, with high volume of admit holds and up to 80% of patients admitted
- Care for adult and pediatric patients, with floating to Adult PCUs expected and optional floating to Peds ED
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30), with weekend shifts scheduled as needed
- Cerner is the charting system used; prior experience is not required
- Scrub color is black, and scrubs are not provided
- Perform medication administration, including IV medications, and document clinical findings
- Float to Adult PCUs expected based on staffing needs; floating to Pediatric ED is optional
- First-time travelers with sufficient Level I trauma experience may be considered
- Black scrubs required for this role
- No on-call responsibilities
- Assignments greater than 7 days of requested time off require approval
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license (may pend at time of consideration)
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC required before consideration; NIHSS may be pending until compliance deadline; PALS required
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required (will review for 1.5+ years); Level I trauma experience strongly preferred
- Travel experience strongly preferred but not required if Level I trauma experience requirement is met
- No local candidates within a 75-mile radius
- COVID-19 vaccination required; exemptions permitted with documented approval
