Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with cardiac and stroke patient care, requiring a NY RN license and strong dysrhythmia interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac and stroke diagnoses
• Day and evening nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 5:1, stretching to 6-7:1; night ratios are 6-7:1, stretching to 8-10:1 as needed
• Patient care technicians provide ADLs, vital signs, blood glucose, and EKG support
• Peripheral lab draws are handled by an in-house phlebotomy team; nurses care for PICC lines and central lines
• Shift is three 12-hour nights from 19:00 to 07:00
• Weekend shifts are required every other weekend
• Floating within scope required to MS, ICU, or ED as needed
• Charting is completed in Epic, with Epic experience preferred
• Hoyer lifts available for patient mobility
• Nurses are responsible for management of PICC lines and central lines
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No on-call responsibilities are required
• No local candidates accepted; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• Requests for time off are restricted to no more than 7 days, with no holiday RTO allowed
• Wear navy and white scrub combinations as per dress code
• Participation in rapid response teams may be required

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with rapid response teams, peripheral line care, nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
• Epic EMR experience preferred
