Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg Float RN with a valid MI license and recent acute care experience for a high-acuity hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital setting as a Medical Surgical Float RN
  • Float assignment includes MS units such as AU, OSU, GSU, NVU, CAR, GMU, AMU, and EMCU, and may include CC units for overflow Med Surg/IMC patients
  • Patient ratios are typically 4-6:1 on MS units
  • Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Block schedules are not guaranteed
  • Primary responsibility is providing direct patient care on various Med/Surg and select IMC/CC units as needed
  • Team members are expected to adapt quickly to different units and patient populations
  • Holiday requested time off is limited to one day or one eve/day after per major holiday
  • First-time travelers with at least one year of experience are welcome to apply

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
  • Must be comfortable managing inpatient MS ratios of 4-6:1
  • Willingness to float across multiple MS and occasional critical care units
  • Available for orientation during the first two weeks of the assignment
