Description

Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN with ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications for 12-hour day shifts and weekend/holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratios are 1:1–2 for critical care and up to 1:3 for intermediate care
  • Expected to float to adolescents, general pediatrics, pediatric hematology/oncology, and NICU units
  • Day shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts weekly, 7:00–19:30
  • EMR system used is Epic
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and at least 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Open to first-time travelers
  • Returning employees must have a minimum 1-year break from prior employment within the health system
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • May be required to care for patients across multiple pediatric specialties depending on unit needs

Requirements

  • Active NJ or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years PICU experience required
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS; NIH Stroke Scale preferred
  • Competency in CVP, CVVH, hemodynamic monitoring, EKG interpretation, pediatric early warning scoring, insulin pump management, IVs (including ports, a-lines, central lines, PICCs), procedural sedation, vasopressors, EVD, VP shunt, ICP monitoring, respiratory interventions (HFNC, ETT, vents, trachs), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, wound care, and trauma care
  • Experience with ECMO preferred
  • Must have experience with Epic charting
