Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role in Alaska requiring two years of experience and strong cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital
  • Patient ratio is 1:4
  • Day shifts available, working 4x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:00
  • Weekend work required every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • No floating required to other units
  • EMR system used is Cerner
  • Navy scrubs required
  • The patient population is complex with significant social history, including domestic violence
  • Must be willing to work holiday shifts with up to three out of four major holidays scheduled
  • Maximum of one week of requested time off allowed, but it must be made up at the end of the contract
  • Magnet-recognized facility
  • Free parking available in the designated parking structure
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing within a 100-mile radius are not eligible

Requirements

  • Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted for consideration if pending AK license
  • Minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience required
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, PALS, TNCC
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity to the Alaska Native population
