Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN with a current CA RN license and advanced certifications for a Level II Trauma Center assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department at a Level II Trauma Center
• Patient ratios are 1:4, caring for neonates through geriatrics
• Shift is mid/nights with variable start times, generally 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Every other weekend is required
• Experience with Cerner and Pyxis systems is expected
• Care provided for trauma, STEMI, and stroke certified populations
• May float to Santa Paula Hospital during low census
• Responsible for triage, emergency stabilization, and advanced cardiac life support in a busy ER setting
• Expected to perform neurological, trauma, pediatric, and shock resuscitation
• Must adhere to isolation precautions and triage protocols
• Orientation includes modules and a CA Harassment prevention course
• All time-off requests must be submitted prior to start and only one RTO request is accepted per contract
• Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; EMSA not accepted
• Minimum of 3 years of ER nursing experience required, 5 years preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (TCAR accepted for TNCC), all in hand prior to start
• Experience in Level II Trauma, general ER, pediatric ER, STEMI and stroke care required
• Must be skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV therapy, blood product administration, central/arterial line care, procedural sedation, and shock/trauma care
• Experience with respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator, and ABG interpretation required
• Candidates must be able to pass the Ventura Advanced EKG exam with measurements (score 80% or higher, two attempts allowed)
• COVID vaccination required
