Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an outpatient clinic role in California, requiring a CA RN license, ambulatory or ophthalmology experience, and strong IV skills.

Responsibilities

Position is based in an outpatient clinic
Day shifts are primarily 9am-6pm, with two 8am-5pm shifts per month for staff meetings
Care is provided for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
Involves minor in-office procedures, phone triage for acute symptoms, and electronic medication refills
Floats may be required to other local departments, units, or facilities within a 75-mile radius
Travel pairs accepted, but not assigned to the same unit
Assist during urgent and emergent patient events as needed
Team-based environment with multidisciplinary collaboration
Modules must be completed prior to start and annually, with up to 8 hours included in orientation
Holiday and staff meeting coverage required as scheduled
All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the application and approved by management at time of offer
First day modules are completed online and transcripts are recorded
Experience in a teaching hospital is preferred
Scrub or dress code details not specified; inquire during onboarding

Requirements

Active CA RN license required
AHA BLS certification required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in ambulatory specialty or outpatient ophthalmology setting
Prior travel nursing experience within the past 12 months required
Competence in starting IVs and assisting with minor urgent/emergent events required
Comfortable with all age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics
Must be up to date with COVID vaccination and booster
Experience in electronic medication refills, prior authorizations, and phone triage required
