Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU assignment at an acute care surgical center, requiring Epic EMR proficiency and current ACLS and BLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and perioperative care at an acute care surgery center
• Unit includes 26 pre-op bays, 6 ORs, and 20 PACU bays
• Patient caseload includes orthopedic, sports medicine, hand, foot & ankle, pain procedures, and nerve blocks
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1-2
• Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Day shifts Monday through Thursday with variable hours depending on pre-op or post-op assignment
• Ten-hour shifts with a random day off each week; no block scheduling guaranteed
• May be required to float within the PACU and to other local campuses including Nampa, Meridian, and Boise
• No weekend, holiday, or call requirements
• Responsibilities include care for pre-op and post-op patients, assisting with nerve blocks and spinal procedures, and pain management cases
• Team includes CNAs who assist with rooming patients, vitals, bathing, 12-leads, blood draws, room setup, and cleaning
• Dress code allows any color scrubs; no artificial nails permitted and only long-sleeve shirts under scrub tops, no jackets
• Unit is a newer location, opened in April 2024
• Orientation includes two days general, option to test out of Epic training, and 1-3 days with a preceptor

Requirements

• Active ID or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in pre-op setting (outpatient or inpatient)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred
• Must provide a valid driver's license
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
• Permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel position
