Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU Float Pool position in Kansas requiring ICU and EPIC experience and the ability to float across multiple hospital sites.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting within a multi-hospital ICU float pool
• Assignment includes floating among MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU units as needed
• Serves a general critical care patient population with varying diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1-2 based on acuity, may flex to 1:3
• Required to float within a 60-mile radius Zone 4 covering multiple facilities
• 12-hour day shifts, with 6-9 weekend shifts required in a 6-week schedule
• May be assigned to float to lower acuity units such as PCU/Stepdown or MS-Tele
• Charting is completed with Epic; prior Epic experience required for first-time travelers
• RNs are expected to read and interpret their own telemetry strips as there are no monitor techs
• No nurse aides are present except for sitter needs
• RNs must assist in troubleshooting and managing respiratory equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices
• Must be comfortable caring for high acuity patients including those on CRRT, IABP, or Impella support
• Designated charge nurse is available on each unit but does not typically take an assignment
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
• Orientation must be completed in-state, and travelers must be available for the entire orientation week
• May be required to participate in the holiday schedule rotation
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the last year
• Housing must allow compliance with the 60-mile float radius policy

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license in hand—pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of prior ICU experience required
• If a first-time traveler, at least 3 years of ICU experience and Epic charting experience are required
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, and TNCC
• Ability to titrate all critical care drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin
• Willingness and ability to float across multiple hospital sites within a 60-mile zone
• Driver's license must be provided for consideration
