Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Neuro Medical Surgical unit night shift position requiring at least 2 years of experience and active NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on a Neuro Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes general medicine with a neuro focus
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Night shifts with either 36 or 48 hours per week available (18:45-7:15)
• Assignment length ranges from 13 to 26 weeks
• Required to float to other units with travelers floating first
• Weekend coverage requires 5-6 weekend shifts, equivalent to every other weekend
• Uses Pyxis for medication, Epic for documentation, and SBAR for communication
• Manager schedules shifts
• Unit orientation provided for 24 hours
• Navy blue scrubs required but not provided
• Experience with or willingness to learn charge nurse responsibilities is preferred
• Neuro experience and NIH Stroke Scale certification are preferred but not required
• Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams and required to report during disasters or catastrophic events
• Possible unit consolidation or reassignment may occur during contract
• A maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) is permitted and must be scheduled before booking
• Additional call offs or RTO may lead to contract cancellation
• Local candidates are accepted
• Candidates must wear navy blue scrubs
• Profile must include recent professional references and license verification

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS
• Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start
• Teamwork and patient safety skills expected
• First-time travelers accepted
