Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN with at least 2 years of ED experience and a compact or NC RN license for a Level III trauma center role.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Emergency Department of a Level III trauma center
• Patient population includes trauma (GSW, stabbing, MVA, falls), cardiac, stroke, respiratory, GI, mental health, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, and various acute illnesses
• RN patient ratio is a maximum of 1:5, depending on acuity
• Work schedule is 12-hour evening shifts from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Weekend rotation is required every other weekend
• Travelers are required to work 75% of holidays
• No on-call required for travelers
• Floating is mandatory within the designated regional facilities and may include floating mid-shift
• EMR used is Epic; additional technology includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Duties include providing emergency nursing care to a diverse, high-acuity patient population
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes CNAs, a charge nurse, hospitalists, ED physicians, IV/VAT team, and respiratory therapists
• Orientation includes facility onboarding and 2 days of departmental training
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays; can request up to 6 days off (excluding holidays) with contract extension if needed
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking is provided
• First-time travelers will be considered, though experience is preferred

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience in trauma care, stroke management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube and drain management, critical care drips, and blood administration
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the home unit
