Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a telemetry position requiring a compact or WV RN license, 5 years RN experience, and travel experience.

Responsibilities

Work in a 20-bed telemetry unit within an acute care hospital setting
Unit serves a variable patient population including telemetry, post-catheterization, and med/surg cases requiring telemetry monitoring
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 for telemetry patients
12-hour day or night shifts are available, with every other weekend and holiday rotation required
Uses EPIC EMR with preference for proficiency
Floating may occur to comparable or lower acuity units, including assisting with patients in the ED or ICU
Cardiac monitoring includes both hardwired and portable telemetry equipment, with monitor tech support
First day includes corporate onboarding, badging, and orientation
Nurses may occasionally be asked to precept or serve as charge if comfortable
Support provided by designated charge nurse and 2 PCTs for 20 beds
Nurses expected to interpret telemetry strips and perform basic dysrhythmia verification
Point-of-care testing using AccuChek glucometers is required
IV placement and limited central line draws as ordered
No ventilators on unit; all standard oxygen delivery methods are used
Unit pharmacist and respiratory therapy support are available
Navy blue scrubs required
Mandatory EKG competency testing required for unit
Not open to local travelers within 50 miles
Former employees must have a 2-year break from WVU system before being eligible

Requirements

Active WV or compact RN license required
Minimum 5 years RN experience required
At least 1 year of travel nursing experience required
Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
Driver’s license required for consideration
Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
Fluency in EPIC preferred

Sebrona was so helpful and quick to respond. She is kind and patient. She was able to get me the job I wanted with excellent pay. After she done her part she continued to check in with me to see how the compliance part was going. I felt comfortable with asking her questions even though it wasn’t the department she worked in. She would reach out to others and get the answer or be sure they contacted me.
