Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Labor & Delivery position in a Level 3 Perinatal Center, requiring a WA or compact RN license and significant L&D background.

Responsibilities

• Work in a teaching hospital with Magnet status as part of a Level 3 Perinatal Center
• Serve a primarily antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patient population, including high-risk and complex cases
• Approximately 150 births per month with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Support newborn care including delivery, immediate postnatal care, and Level 4 NICU access for high-risk cases
• Utilize 2 on-unit ORs for Cesarean sections, BTLs, and PP D&Cs
• Night shifts consisting of 3x12 or 4x12 hour schedules
• Weekend shifts required with no on-call responsibilities
• Floating within the hospital may be required but not to sister hospitals
• Uses Epic for charting; prior Epic experience preferred but not required
• Scrubs of any color may be worn; scrubs provided for OR personnel
• Must provide care to both childbearing women and newborns including high-risk and complex pregnancies
• Support a high-volume, high-acuity L&D unit with expanded responsibilities for emergent C-sections and neonatal care
• First-time travelers considered for the position
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rates as non-local candidates
• No block scheduling available; RTO during orientation not permitted and limited to one week maximum
• Parking is available for a daily fee
• Must adhere to holiday scheduling requirements if applicable

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license, or proof of pending license
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent L&D experience required; 3 years preferred
• At least 2 prior travel assignments beyond initial hospital experience preferred
• Experience in teaching or trauma hospital settings preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required

• Previous UW employment requires 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
