Job Description
American Traveler is recruiting an RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a NM or compact RN license and TNCC certification prior to consideration.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital emergency department
- Patients include a high volume of admit holds, adult and pediatric emergency cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Assignment options include 36 or 48 hour work weeks on 12-hour shifts, days or nights
- Weekend shifts are required as needed; weekends are defined as Friday night through Sunday
- Floating to Adult Progressive Care Units is required based on staffing needs, with optional floating to Pediatric ED and potential floating to ED Holding and Trauma
- Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience is preferred but not required
- Scrub color is black
- No on-call requirement
- Primary responsibilities include medication administration (including IV), following seven medication rights, and thorough documentation and communication of clinical findings
- Position is in a high-acuity, fast-paced trauma environment
- First-time travelers accepted if they possess sufficient Level I Trauma experience
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require approval
- No block scheduling available
- Parking is provided at no cost
Requirements
- Active NM or compact RN license (pending license accepted at time of consideration)
- Minimum 2 years recent emergency department RN experience, with Level I Trauma experience strongly preferred; 1.5 years may be considered
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (must have prior to consideration), and NIHSS (may be obtained prior to compliance due date)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical and religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation)
- No locums or candidates residing within 75 miles accepted
