Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a MD or compact RN license and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults, geriatrics, and selectively admitted adolescents
• Patient ratio is 1:5
• Procedures include complex total joints, spine fusions, foot and ankle, head and neck, colorectal, hepatobiliary, urology, and GYN surgeries
• Uses telemetry monitoring, IV, PCA, PCEA, capnography, and wound vac equipment
• Utilizes HCHAPS, white boards, bedside shift report, zebra phone, and TigerConnect secure messaging
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
• No prescheduled on-call shifts
• Responsible for caring for post-surgical Med/Surg Tele patients with a range of complex conditions
• Night shift team uses bedside shift reports and secure text communication
• Must be available to work scheduled holidays as assigned
• First-time travelers meeting experience requirements are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, or at least 1 year with strong skills for first-time travelers
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rhythm basics required
