Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU/PCU float position requiring ICU experience, EPIC proficiency, and the ability to float between all ICU and PCU units.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital setting floating between ICU and PCU units
• Patient ratios: ICU average 2:1, PCU average 5:1
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:45 pm to 7:15 am
• Floating to different units may occur 2-3 times per shift based on staffing needs
• Charting completed using EPIC; experience required
• Weekend schedule may require every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• Must work one holiday during the 13-week contract
• Responsible for advanced patient care including medication titration, complex wound care, and cardiac monitoring
• Must provide respiratory support to patients using BiPAP, CPAP, and ventilators
• Work within a large, acute care hospital with a fast-paced, Level 1 trauma environment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• All time off, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application
• Must comply with hospital's call off policy, which may include one shift cancellation every two weeks

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required; pending license accepted from non-compact states
• Current certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience preferred
• Experience at a large Level 1 or Level 2 facility is required
• Proficient in IV therapy including arterial line and central/PICC line care
• Skilled in managing BiPAP, CPAP, ventilated patient care, and wound vacs
• Able to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, administer emergency meds, and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience implementing IV insulin protocols
• Two professional references needed for consideration
