Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a high-acuity, Magnet-designated teaching hospital requiring a WA or compact RN license and BLS/NRP certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level 3 Perinatal Labor and Delivery unit with Level 4 NICU support
• Serve antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patient populations
• Approximately 150 high-risk births per month; 70% of cases are complex
• Two operating rooms on unit for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs
• 1:1 patient ratio for laboring patients
• Night shifts available: 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
• Weekend shifts required; no on-call responsibilities
• Assignment length options of 13 or 26 weeks
• Floating within the hospital is required; no floating to other hospitals
• Epic EMR used; experience preferred but not required
• Scrubs of any color permitted; OR scrubs provided
• Responsibilities include care for high-risk mothers and newborns, circulating for deliveries, and supporting surgical procedures such as C-sections
• Second L&D RN assigned as 'baby catcher' for well, non-compromised babies
• Training provided during orientation; no RTO (requested time off) allowed during orientation week
• Maximum of one week RTO allowed during contract
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Previous permanent staff must wait at least 18 months before returning as travelers
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license or proof of pending license
• Current BLS and NRP certifications
• Minimum of 2 years recent L&D experience required; 3 years preferred
• At least two completed travel assignments beyond initial hospital preferred
• Teaching hospital and trauma experience preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required
